When I started writing draft three of my debut mystery novel, I had the good fortune to join a wonderful writing group with experienced professionals, as well as another newbie like me. The experience has been amazing, and I've learned so much that today, I'm working on a much better draft of my debut novel. Fingers crossed, I'll complete it--written and edited--by the end of this year.
Thing is, not everybody is as lucky as I am. Other writers have shared with me stories about their groups and given them a big thumbs down.
What made the experience so good for me? I've got some theories and I'll be sharing them here. But for now: When you think about writing groups, are you a thumbs up or thumbs down kind of person?
