We're almost at mid-January and it's time for me to share my priorities for 2026. I'm curious if you're developing your creative-side, too--so please let me know in the comments below what you're working on this year.
Instead of going through individual goals, I've grouped my hopes and dreams into two broad priorities:
Continue to explore Gothic and spooky literature. January is International Gothic Reading Month for starters, and I'm rereading classics (right now: Jane Eyre) and exploring some newer works, too (on the TBR pile: Blackwicket). Are you reading Gothic, too? If so, I'd love to hear what you enjoy about Gothic stories. What fascinates you the most? Haunted houses? Dark woods? Ghosts? Magic? Curses? Costumes? Romance? Don't forget! If you feel like reading something gothic-y but on the shorter side, check out my Darker Stories.
Strengthen my focus on my fiction writing. I've got two book projects underway and I'll share more news with my readers as I reach my milestones. To prioritize my fiction, one of the things I'm doing for 2026 is adjusting my blog-posting schedule. With my background in corporate communications, I found it all too attractive to write nonfiction posts. But the result was a CRAZEE schedule that often overtook my other work. So, I'm going to keep it simple in 2026 and reduce the number of posts that I personally generate. However, I'll continue to accept guest bloggers. Pitch me if you'd like to be a guest blogger in 2026. As for my readers, I'll continue a monthly newsletter. (Sign up so you don't miss an issue!)
What are your priorities for the year? I'd love to hear from you! Just aim for the comments box below and share your thoughts! And whatever your direction for the coming year, I wish you every happiness and success!
