I think of you as a member of my big, bold, extended writing group, and when I planned my 2025 goals, I promised to share my monthly progress with you. And August's progress included a whirlwind break in Cape Cod!
Cape Cod is my family's favorite vacation spot. In fact, my husband and I were married on the Cape, and as our daughter grew up, we came back every summer for our family vacations. (Follow me on Instagram and Facebook for more photos.)
During this recent break, my writing-self did lots of horror folklore reading, and I jotted down half a dozen spooky story ideas. But I also continued to work on the gothic mystery draft, rewriting some key chapters to make them more exciting for readers. Plus, I'm polishing a ghost story that I'll talk more about next month.
In the meantime, two of my articles were published. If you're new to writing and you're wondering about the value of a writing community, both of these articles offer my perspective on the terrific boost you get by connecting with other writers. Check out:

Summer isn't over yet, and I intend to take a break from writing and enjoy the Labor Day weekend. How about you? Let me know how you're taking a break from your writing in the comments!
