Do you remember May 2024? Madonna held the largest concert of her career, the U.S. economy continued to grow (unlike today), creating over 270,000 jobs in that month alone, and the Dow Jones broke its then record—and I launched my blog.
Obviously, my blog wasn’t the biggest event in the world, but for me it was important, because it marked my pivot to a creative writing career from a business communications job.
Frankly, when I started, I thought my blog would fizzle out. Why? Because long ago, I maintained a couple of blogs on business subjects and they felt like burdensome chores to keep up, as in, posting wasn’t fun. I dreaded when my calendar sing-songed its ‘time-to-post’ reminder. Ugh.
Not this blog! This has been a unique experience—thanks to YOU. And today is proof, because today is my blog’s 50th post. Conversations with you and other writers about writing groups, writing buddies, writers who bake, and the craft of writing all contributed to my posts. WOW! Again, it’s thanks to YOU. Thank YOU for subscribing, asking questions, commenting, downloading, buying my ebook (Amazon and other fine retailers), and choosing to follow me. You’ve been incredibly motivating!
I started this blog to share my story. My intention was to highlight how I found help and support from other writers to pursue my creative work. Because of those groups, I wrote my first book, drafted many short stories, kicked off my novel, and started learning about the business of being an authorpreneur.
Naturally, I want to share all that good writerly feeling with people who dream about exploring their creativity, too. Especially at this time, I hope others read my words and feel empowered to seek the company of writing buddies and groups so they can help each other make their creative dreams their realities.
If you’re curious about my transition to creative writing, ask me a question in the comments. My experience might be of help to you. In the meantime, know that your presence inspires me and I’m grateful to you and looking forward to the next 50 posts!
