5 More Podcast Episodes about Writing Groups You've Got to Hear

I'm in the U.S. and just celebrated Thanksgiving. While I love cooking, it's nice to enjoy the after-holiday downtime. That's why I'm using the weekend to take it easy and listen to my fave podcasts. Since you might be in the mood to listen to podcasts, too, I wanted to share with you I've found five really useful episodes about writing groups.

But first, let me back up a minute. Last June I shared some podcast episodes, where hosts and guests discussed the positives and negatives of writing groups. A couple of blog readers sent along friendly comments, and as a result, I hunted for more.

Now, with a collection of five more episodes, I'm ready to pass them along to you. Here's what I've curated:

The Nerd Count Podcast: Writing Groups (July 2024). In this inaugural podcast episode, hosts Mercurio D. Rivera and Matthew Kressel discuss the ins and outs of making a writing group work, including how to give an effective critique and how to receive feedback like a pro.

No "I" in Writing (June 2024). Author Chris Lodwig and editor Christina Scheuer engage in a debate about the value of writing groups and discuss how to establish strong and productive relationships with writing partners.

Words to Write By (September 2023). This episode explores the writing-group good, bad and ugly. Co-hosts Renee K. Nelson and Kim Smuga-Otto share lots of personal stories (some funny, some horrific), so that you don't have to go through what they did!

Fully Booked (September 2023). In this interview, New York Times best-selling romance author Mimi Barbour talks about how a writing group helped her get started in her career, as well as her experiences of groups as places of camaraderie and shared knowledge.

Your Words Unleashed (July 2022). In this episode, Dr. Leslie Wang, author coach, shares her insights into writing groups and presents practical strategies that you can apply right away to make the most of a circle.

BTW, I'm on Spotify and you can follow my podcast playlist AboutWritingGroups. And don't forget my ebook, The Write Group, offers lots of writing group tips. Check it out!
