Frequently Asked Questions

I Find Inspiration in Writing and Help from Writing Groups

1. What was your first book?

My debut nonfiction, The Write Group, was self-published in September 2024. I wanted to share how magical writing groups have been for me, and how they've helped me achieve my creative goals. I went from zero to finished manuscripts, to self-published works, all the way through book sales, thanks to writing groups.

2. What is your first book about?

The Write Group helps new writers gain confidence in their writing, and tap into the superpower of writing groups to achieve their writing goals. I share advice, tips and stories about writing groups. Some of those stories are my own personal experiences, and some are experiences that other authors shared with me.

3. What inspired you to write your book?

For years I was nervous about owning my writing and sharing my creative work. Then I was lucky to meet some wonderful writing buddies who helped me grow my confidence and keep writing. With all the positives that writing groups provided to me, it seemed like a good idea to write my book and share that good news with other new writers.

4. Will this be a nonfiction series?

I have a new nonfiction book, Draft to Craft: A New Writer's Guide to Feedback, coming out later this year. Like my first book, it's targeted to people who are new to writing, but Draft to Craft helps writers navigate the manuscript feedback process. The idea is: You get better at writing by giving and getting feedback.

5. Are your books suitable for all ages?

Yes. My nonfiction books are clean—no graphic violence, no swearing, and no explicit content. They’re ideal for teens and adults alike who are interested in building their writing confidence.

6. Where can I buy your books?

The Write Group is available currently on Amazon and other major ebook retailers. Subscribe to updates to learn when Draft to Craft: A New Writer's Guide to Feedback becomes available.

7. Do you write fiction?

You bet! I love writing fiction and have a paranormal romance, Dream Walkers: Heart & Hand, available for free on Wattpad. The book is written under my other author name, Judy Davila, and it's in a serialized format. I'd love to get your feedback. (I read everyone's comments. They mean so much to me.) I'm also working on a gothic mystery right now, which I'm targeting to be released in early 2026. If you subscribe, you'll get some story and process sneak peeks!

8. Can I get an advance copy of your upcoming book?

If you’re interested in being an early beta reader or joining my launch team for any of my books, sign up.

9. Do you coach writing groups?

I truly believe in the magic of writing groups. I've seen people, who have struggled for years to put pen to paper, finally finish their novel, publish their poetry, or send out the query letter--all because of the support and encouragement from a team of writers. If you'd like your writing group to be your source of strength and motivation, then send me a message. Let's chat!

10. Are you in a writing group now?

Yes. I belong to a critique circle that exchanges works-in-progress for feedback, plus I belong to an accountability group, where I set my weekly goals and then report on how I did. Both help me sustain my writing progress.
